From 2012 to 2019, Christine Lücke worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Public Economics. In her PhD thesis, Christine Lücke conducted empirical analyses of the effects of job losses and employment protection regulations. She focused on the consequences for the individuals directly affected and their immediate personal environment.

In her analyses, Dr. Lücke specifically examined how employment protection regulations influence workers’ employment stability and their earnings — including from a dynamic perspective. In addition to objective economic indicators, Dr. Lücke also considered the effects of employment protection on individuals’ subjective perceptions of their economic situation and on their family circumstances (marital stability, children’s life satisfaction).

In line with the individual-level perspective of the analyses, Dr. Lücke applies microeconometric methods in the presented studies, drawing on several extensive social surveys and administrative employment data.

Her research has been published in renowned international journals, such as Oxford Economic Papers, LABOUR, European Journal of Political Economy, and Review of Economics of the Household.
